Current projections on the resource consumption of the AI and HPC data centre buildout expected between 2024 and 2028 indicate we must change the power, water, and carbon footprint demands of current computational infrastructure. Annual data centre power consumption is potentially doubling by 2030, and data centre driven carbon emissions could triple by 2050. We must change the economics of today’s computational infrastructure. This talk will discuss the latest open innovations being worked by the OCP Community needed to deliver the next generation sustainable data centre facilities and computational infrastructure.
