Ethan Summers

Department For Environment Food and Rural Affairs
Ethan is Head of Artificial Intelligence for the UK's Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs: a central government department with diverse policy oversight, including farming, biodiversity, animal welfare, water quality and air pollution.
He is responsible for leading the department's AI strategy, governance and mission to drive responsible and sustainable use of artificial intelligence.
With a background in applied AI techniques, their work also involves embedding best practices for secure, ethical, and sustainable AI development.
Ethan is currently shaping Defra's approaches to risk management, innovation, and transformation in the age of AI, capitalising on the UK's AI Opportunities Action Plan.
